FPG currently has production and sales locations in Ha Tinh, Vietnam and Fujian in China, which produce carbon steel and stainless steel hot-rolled coils respectively. With the advantages of being close to the markets, FPG provides high-quality products and services to customers in Asia and other emerging countries.

In recent years, due to the increase in industrialization and urbanization in Southeast Asian countries, the development of local infrastructure has led to an increase in steel demand. FPG has also targeted at the Southeast Asian markets. In 2008, FPG launched the investment plan for the Ha Tinh Steel Plant in Vietnam. The highly-experienced China Steel Corporation also participated in the investment in this business, hoping to use the integrated production operations from ironmaking, steelmaking to hot rolling, as well as the preferential tariffs of the ASEAN Free Trade Zone, to stably supply this region and further make greater contributions to the economic development in Southeast Asia.

Carbon Steel

Carbon steel refers to an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of 0.04% to 2.3%. The higher the carbon content, the more rigid and hard it gets. However, the toughness, plasticity and weldability will be affected, making it easier to break. It is thus not practical. In order to maintain toughness and plasticity, the carbon content of industrial carbon steel generally does not exceed 1.7%. In addition to iron and carbon, the main elements of carbon steel also consist of other trace elements, such as sulfur, phosphorus, silicon and manganese.
